An insight into life in Palermo and our Palazzo
It’s watermelon season, which for us means one thing: watermelon pudding, or known to the Sicilians as Gelo di mellone. Jasmine flowers which can be found growing in the terrace garden of our Palazzo, are added for a unique, exotic flavour.
On the 14th of July we celebrate the biggest event in Palermo, the festival of our patron Saint, Santa Rosalia. The previous week, multicoloured street lights are set up along the streets of the historic centre.
Only a few times during the Summer, under the darkness of a night with a full moon (what those in the know call a Full Sturgeon Moon) a spectacular event occurs on my terrace – the blooming of the Queen of the Night.
It’s a very exciting period here at Butera 28 Apartments and in Palermo. The high season has started and tourists are flocking to Sicily.
