It’s watermelon season, which for us means one thing: watermelon pudding, or known to the Sicilians as Gelo di mellone. Jasmine flowers which can be found growing in the terrace garden of our Palazzo, are added for a unique, exotic flavour.
A Midsummer Night’s Dream
Only a few times during the Summer, under the darkness of a night with a full moon (what those in the know call a Full Sturgeon Moon) a spectacular event occurs on my terrace – the blooming of the Queen of the Night.
It’s the most wonderful time of the year!
